Day 1 of Mali Trip

I'm pretty sure that between Toby and his mom we have around 2000 pictures from our trip. It may take some time to sort through them enough to post the best ones, so I've decided to do a post for each day of our trip.
Day 1:Drive to Djenne and stop at a small market on the way.
Get our first flat tire... on the nice roads in the country no less. Visit our first market and glimpse what we have in store for us ahead.

We set up our trip through Saga Tour company and had a guide and driver for the entire time. Our guide's name was Usmahn and he did a great job. He took care of us the entire time and even put up with our weird sense of humor. Our driver's name was Seesoku (I have no idea how to spell it). He didn't speak any English but sure proved his worth the rugged terrain we endured.

The was no limit on how high the local transportation would get. And yes, those are people sitting on the very top of that load. That woman has a baby tied to her back. This is how all of the women carried their babies around. Keep in mind they didn't have diapers there... ugh.

Stopping for fish and chips along the way. It was sooo good! Definitely a pleasant surprise from what I expected the food to be like.

Man, what an amazing experience. Keep the pictures coming.

And they don't have diapers? Really? The babies are just bare-bottomed? Really?

You didn't see any kids wearing pants unless they were potty trained. Most of the time the toddlers were just in shirts. In the city I saw someone selling diapers in packs of like 5, but that was the only diaper I saw the whole time.
